Labor Day Weekend

Labor day to most American has grown to just another day off, a day of barbecue, backyard football, and the beginning of the end of lake season. But let's take a step back and take a deeper look at Labor Day. It was first observed in 1882 by the union in New York, it was not made a national holiday until 1894 when President Grover Clevend felt it was needed. The reason he felt it was needed was due the Pullman strike, a railroad strike of nearly 3000 workers. The strike bacame very heated resulting in 13 dead and $340,000 in damages. It was at that moment President Cleveland pushed to have this holiday as a national holiday. This is a day to for all American workers, an extra day to recharge and spend with family and friends. But in 2011 this will be a day that working Americans should be thankful to be working, be thankful that next year we will have the chance to elect a new president. As I said yesterday Obama will be proposing a new plan on Thursday. Maybe this time he will have a plan to give instead of speaking about what he thinks his plan will do without proposing a plan. So to all working Americans I have put a Labor Day festival Rib Recipe. Start by peeling the membrane off the back of the ribs. Soak them in a mixture of coke, cinnamon, lemon juice, beer, cayenne pepper over night. Set the grill up for indirect heat 275 degrees. Place ribs on rib rack opposite side of coals. Keep coals at 275 for 3 hrs, feel free to add wood chips. Spay with mixture of jack Daniels and apple juice ever 15 min. 5 min before done smother in fav BBQ sauce
